Different workspaces each have a specific recommended DB rating. Classrooms commonly require 30db. This DB rating will mean that loud speech is clearly audible under normal circumstances. A classroom won’t require a high DB due to the fact that there aren’t frequent loud sounds coming from the classroom. It will reduce noise coming into the classroom and noise escaping the classroom.

This sort of environment will require a higher DB rating than a classroom as greater privacy is required. Lecture rooms are typically louder than classrooms, a higher DB rating will reduce this sound escaping.
